Poppy's HappyBats Party

10/28/2012

What a fun time we had today at Poppy's HappyBats Tennis party! Poppy was celebrating her 4th birthday with her friends. I can understand why "they" say: Never work with children or animals, although I have to disagree. It is the unpredictability of never knowing what will be said, or how things will be done that makes working with children such a lot of fun! I had asked Poppy days before her party, what her favourite colour was; "purple," was the reply (there didn't even seem to be any doubt). So I set about decorating her birthday bat with a purple grip, and all things purple, thinking how delighted she would be to see a HappyBat dressed up in her favourite colour. On presentation of the Birthday Bat to Poppy at the party however, her opinion had changed  as she answered my question "What's your favourite colour?" with a very firm "pink!" ........it was funny! But she did seem delighted with her purple HappyBat nonetheless!
Then it was on to the fun games before a well deserved drink and party food before the team games.....which involved rather a lot of giggling and some rather excited children! The red team won but everyone went home happy with their balloon and Poppy was presented with her HappyBats Trophy. "What was the best part of your party Poppy?"  "When all the children cheered for me at the end!" Brilliant! Thank you Poppy for inviting HappyBats Tennis to your party, we hope you enjoyed i

Rhyme competition winner

This week saw the crowning of the Rhyme competition champion! The challenge was to write a rhyme about HappyBats classes and send it in. I'm delighted to announce that the winning entry was from Sarah Robertson and son Daniel (4) from our Fordingbridge class. Congratulations to them! They won a HappyBats waterbottle for Daniel and a bottle of bubbly for Sarah.  Here's the winning rhyme:

I do HappyBats on a Monday morning,
Here I learn tennis (there’s no time for yawning);
We practice our strokes, forehand and back
Not long now til we get the knack!
We chase big balls and little balls all around the hall,
Making sure we listen out for Fiona’s call!
I can balance the ball on my racquet
But best of all, I just love to whack it!
